History

Beginnings
Located in Golden Meadow, LA, Montco, Inc. was founded by the Orgeron family in 1948.  In the many years that followed, Montco has seen many changes.  From 1948-1964, Montco primarily operated inshore and offshore high-speed crew boats.

Growth
In 1965, Montco expanded into the offshore market with its first 140' offshore supply vessel.  Montco's fleet grew and within the ten years following, the total fleet was up to 15 boats.  With a continuing boom in offshore drilling, Montco moved into larger offshore vessels, including (3) ocean -going tugs, (2) large deck barges, (5) offshore supply vessels, and in 1979 introduced the first offshore jack-up barges (liftboats) into the Montco fleet.

Refinement
Since 1980, Montco has seen many changes.  In the late 1980's and early 1990's Montco began refining and updating equipment.  It began with the sale of its offshore supply vessels and deck barges.  Montco then replaced a few liftboats with better-equipped and more advanced models, leaving only a fleet of ocean going tugs and liftboats.  In 1999, Montco made yet another effort to refine its operation with the sale of its 3-ocean going tugs opting for a liftboat-only business model.

Current Focus
Currently, Montco, Inc. owns 6 liftboats ranging in leg length size from 145' to 245' and employs well over 100 people.  Our current focus is to strive to be the best offshore liftboat operator in the Gulf of Mexico.  Montco is currently in the process of build two newly-designed 230'Class SOLAS-Ready liftboats with anticipated delivery dates of December 2008 and March 2009.  Montco plans additional growth and expansion to keep pace with the ever-increasing demands of the offshore oil industry.
